Summary: High Country Search Group has partnered with a stable construction company who is hiring a Project Accountant. This position is located in Lakewood, on the West side of Denver.

Primary Functions of the Project Accountant

  • Billing Operations: take proactive steps to assess and address any billing concerns, confirm moth-end expenditures and billing to facilitate reconciliation with the General Ledger, work closely with Project Managers to assist in the preparation, posting, and submission of monthly client invoices (including managing the creation and maintenance of schedule of values)
  • Manage Contract Support; Conduct Budget and Cost Assessment, aid in reviewing and preparing project cost-to-complete analyses, validate PM/PE input of change requests in our ERP system, collaborate with PMs to input job budgets, support PMs with change orders, and ensure accurate entry and tracking in the ERP system.
  • Oversee subcontractor and vendor lien release administration; Ensure the completion of all subcontract agreements and validate the receipt and validity of insurance certificates, enter/monitor all subcontract details, encompassing change orders, liens, and AP, and collaborate with the payroll department and subcontractors to guarantee compliance with certified payroll report regulations
  • Accountable for Job Cost and Analysis duties, including aiding in Earned Value Analysis (using Percent Complete / Revenue Recognition methods as necessary), provide support for the formal monthly Cost-to-Complete project reviews, and participate in budget revisions. Additionally, assist with ongoing budget realignments and adjustments
  • Manage Accounts Payable tasks; processing subcontractor pay applications through AP entry, initiating vendor job setup requests, ensuring their completion, and submission to the AP department for processing
  • Handle_ Accounts Receivable tasks;_ monitor AR aging reports, examine and reconciling outstanding AR, actively collaborate with Project Managers and clients to ensure invoice submissions are accurate, foster client relationships to facilitate invoice resolution and payment approvals, and generate/distribute monthly statements
  • In charge of procurement activities including Purchase Orders and Subcontracts. Duties involve drafting/dispatching PO closeout letters or final releases to vendors, validating PO balances, helping in PO reconciliation, facilitating the execution and monitoring of PO, work orders, and subcontract change orders
  • Manage work orders, including establishing customers and sites for Service Account Managers, invoicing all completed work orders, monthly review and closure of work orders, maintenance of work orders, purchase orders, and subcontracts, as well as tracking/submitting complete work order time completed by service technicians

Qualifications of the Project Accountant

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, but not a requirement
  • Minimally 2 years experience in a prior Project Accountant or Cost Accountant role required
  • Analysis of costs and budgets, including evaluations of both cost-to-date and cost-to-complete evaluation and prediction
  • Proficient understanding of project accounting functions, oversight of subcontractor finances, processing of change orders, Revenue Recognition Rules, and adherence to contract financial obligations
  • Team player, good work ethic, and maintains a self-initiative personality
