 Quality & Safety Manager  

SUMMARY 
Our clients designs and builds equipment used in the location, identification, and characterization of radioactive materials. They provide state-of-the-art services through equipment, systems, and consultancy support to companies, national laboratories, and institutions in the nuclear industry. 

The Quality and Safety Manager will implement policies to ensure a compliant quality program is operated and maintained, as well as ensuring safe OSHA compliant work environment and is responsible for working with safety team and supervisors managing activities related to safety. 

The Quality and Safety Manager is accountable for adhering to all safety and quality requirements while performing assigned tasks. This person manages, plans, coordinates, and directs the quality management system designed to ensure continuous production/service consistent with established standards. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Comply with all values, policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists employees in solving work problems.
  • Interprets company policy to employees and enforces company policy and practices. 
  • Interpret policies and procedures and work with management to implement updates.
  • Anticipate typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, and take appropriate action. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with all internal and external working contacts and committed to shared success. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or required. 

QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Administer, maintain, and support oversight & implementation of company Quality Management 
  • System in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and NQA-1 Criteria 2008/2009a. 
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures. 
  • Develops and implements project specific inspection policies, procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections. 
  • Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to Quality Assurance.
  • Investigate customer complaints regarding quality and work with project team to resolve.
  • Identify, assess, and resolve operational Quality Assurance compliance issues.
  • Conduct internal audits and resolve any related issues. 
  • Conduct Quality Assurance approval audits of external suppliers, teaming partners and other organizations as required. 
  • Lead customer or independent audits to ensure QA compliance and certification. 
  • Coordinate, direct and monitor all Quality Assurance compliance programs, issues and results. 
  • Assists with issuing Nonconformances and working them through resolution. 
  • Interact with customer and supplier representatives on quality matters. 
  • Develop Commercial Grade Dedication plans and processes. 
  • Implement Commercial Grade Dedication plans and process. 

SAFETY RESPONSABILITES 

  • Develops, maintains, and implements safety procedures and policies. 
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover safety procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics. 
  • Inspects the facility to identify safety risks. 
  • Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings. 
  • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Serves as a safety/compliance liaison in safety audits, with clients, and any other required entity outside the organization. 
  • Ensures correct and complete OSHA 300 logs are maintained annually. 
  • Director of the Safety Committee. 
  • Provide communication, documentation, and reporting to all required agencies. 
  • Maintains and updates safety records as required. 
  • Implement, and assist in enforcement of policies and procedures to assure a safe workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science, five years related experience in a similar role

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Master’s degree in engineering or science. 
  • NQA-1 Lead Auditor Qualified. 
  • OSHA HAZWOPER Training. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledgeable with ISO 9001 & NQA-1 requirements. 
  • Sufficient knowledge, experience, and understanding of QA requirements to develop and implement related policies and procedures. 
  • Knowledgeable with Federal Code or Regulations as well as local and state laws/regulations.
  • Strong management and leadership skills; ability to communicate objectives and set goals.
  • Strong skills in planning, assigning, appraising, and directing work. 
  • Effective technical problem-solving techniques. 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office 365 software. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, to begin projects independently (or as assigned), and to bring projects (or assignments) to satisfactory conclusion on a timely basis.
  • Ability to perform additional duties/assignment is needed to meet departmental and/or organizational goals.
