We Match the Engagement We Receive From Others
July 17, 2024When working with a recruiter, has the recruiter ever asked you (or insisted) that he or she work on this job exclusively? Conversely, have you ever “put a job out” to multiple recruiters, yet felt like your job was being focused on by none of them?
Have you ever wondered why?
There are 3 levels of commitment exchanged between search firms and clients:
1) Exclusive
2) Medium Commitment
3) Jump Ball
Exclusive tends to be when a fee or partial fee is paid upfront. Both parties in this scenario are very committed to working with one another. Communication is strong; Success and Pain are mutually felt and both are committed to a great outcome.
The Medium Commitment is what it seems. Both parties are vested but to varying degrees. With great communication, success is achieved but similar amounts of effort are needed. This has the greatest chance of miscommunication as usually too many assumptions are made.
With Jump Ball, you get what you’d expect. Since you’ve called (or allowed) 4-6 recruiters to work on it, no one is really committed to you. You get what you’ve committed to…not much.
The bottom line is if you have a KEY position you need to be filled, and a fixed timeline, consider partnering with a trusted recruiting consultant exclusively. You’ll have the attention and dedication you expect.
